Radial forging

2020.04.14

Radial forging is a rotary forging method for processing solid or hollow shaft parts. When forging, the hammer heads (2 ~ 8) distributed in the circumference direction of the bar can forge the workpiece quickly and synchronously. If the workpiece is a circular section, one side rotates at a low speed and the other side moves in an axial feed. If the workpiece has a non-circular section, it is only fed axially without rotation. The characteristics of radial forging do not require a special mold, and can forge precise shaft parts according to a predetermined program. Radial forging each compression is small, the number of forging per minute is high, generally 240 to 1800 times/minute, can improve the plasticity of metal. This method can be used for hot or cold forging.

Forging accuracy: the outer diameter of hot forging ±0.5 mm, the inner diameter ±0.1 mm; The outer diameter of cold forging is ±0.1 mm, and the inner diameter is ±0.01 mm.

The equipment used in forging is divided into precision forging machine and rotary forging machine. When forging with precision forging machine, one side of the workpiece is fed axially and the other is rotated, and the hammer head is forged radially. This kind of machine uses program control, digital control or micro-processing control system to operate automatically, with high production efficiency, to establish automatic production lines such as hot forging train axles and cold forging rifle lines. The precision forging machine is divided into vertical and horizontal. There is also a kind of equipment forging, the workpiece is only sent into, not rotating, mostly used in steel mills, the ingot directly forged into square steel, flat steel and so on. The rotary forging machine has 2 or 4 hammer heads, one side of the hammer heads rotates around the workpiece, the other side is radial forging to the workpiece, and the workpiece is only fed axially. Rotary forging machine has simple structure, low price, but low degree of automation and loud noise.
